ebay auction 1964 F85 classic Oldsmobile cutlass
February 19, 2007
This ebay auction is ending soon.Whilst it isn’t for a pink car, automobile experts will appreciate the significance of ‘before the summer of 64’ in differentiating the 1964 F85 Olds Cutlass from it’s successor the 442. It is from the Oldsmobile division of General Motors. The listing can be found at http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/64-Olds-F85-Post-CA-Black-Plate-Pink-Slip-A-C-sleeper_W0QQitemZ120086346731QQihZ002QQcategoryZ6405QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
The car comes with original registration plates, Californian pink slip and title, and the original 1964 radio, to blast out those 60’s tunes. This is a one owner car, and derives from an estate sale in Southern California.
It has clocked up only 54,000 miles. It still has it’s original white exterior and aqua interior, has been fitted with new floor pans, has a perfect floor trunk, shiny body, and re-chromed bumpers.
It still has the original standard Cutlass engine, the 290hp 330 V8 engine that runs well and the original Jetaway 2 speed transmission. In well manicured condition, it could be made into a 442.
A few months prior to the release of the 1965 models Oldsmobile executives at GM responded to the release of the GTO Pontiac by demanding a competitor be produced. The 442 was born late in the production year, in the summer of 64.
There are ways and means of distinguishing the 64 442 but it can be difficult. The old 442 Cutlass is relatively rare.
