Racing legend and designer Carroll Shelby is the mastermind behind the retrostyled Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, the third in a line to be produced as a result of his collaboration with Ford. It has commanded prices in the 250K to 600K range.
A celebration of American muscle, this beast is predicted to become an integral part not just of motor racing heritage, but also urban street car culture. With it’s signature Le Mans stripes, and deadly serpent Cobra logo, it harkens back to the more traditional muscle car, appealing to the old school male Ford purist. The Ford Shelby GT500 was announced by Motorweek as the best performance car of the year, being hailed the most powerful Mustang ever constructed, boasting a supercharged 5.4 litre 475 hp V8 engine.
In a brilliant marketing ploy, Ford have selected DJ Funkmaster Flex to showcase the Ford range at the Chicago Auto Show on February 2007 as the ultimate ‘lifestyle’ car.
He will be giving demos of the latest Sync technology developed by Ford in partnership with Microsoft, a voice activated hands free in car communications and entertainment system, that seamlessly integrates cells phones and MP3 players like the Microsoft Zune and Apple Ipod. The stereo system at full blast guarantees to perforate your eardrums.
Funkmaster will imprint on the car a definitively urban signature.
